Features

Benrinnes distillery founded in 1826 is still alive and well after being destroyed by a flood in 1829 and then a fire in 1896. It was entirely rebuilt in 1956 and by 1966 it tripled its production capacity from two to six stills. One of the very few Scottish distilleries to practise triple distillation, making its product overflow with naturalness from the very first moment you sip it.

Tasting Notes

Colour:
Pale Gold

Nose:
Lively and unctuous. Marked by citrus fruit (lemon, grapefruit), the first nose is also pastry (frangipane) and spicy (cinnamon, nutmeg). When aired, fragrances of fresh nuts, rice powder and heady flowers (honeysuckle, iris) testify to the richness and complexity of the aromatic palette.

Palate:
Slender, dynamic. Very coherent with the first nose, the attack in the mouth is lemony. Then, ripe fruits (pear, apple) bring a lot of freshness to an increasingly greedy, vanilla and exotic (coconut) middle and end of mouth.

Finish:
Long, silky. Remarkably balanced, the opening of the finish highlights the peppery temperament of the taste palette. Flavours of star anise even add a medicinal touch to an otherwise intensely malty and mentholated aftertaste.
