Features
This is an updated version of the Bunnahabhain 18yo following the company’s decision to do away with the caramel colouring and chill-filtration, and increasing the strength to 46.3%, which is a welcoming move for naturalist whiskey drinkers. Matured in ex-sherry casks, this 18 year old has a beautifully rich and full bodied character. Before taking a sip, breathe in the scents of salted caramel leading to sticky toffee pudding sprinkled with nutmeg. The first sip yields dense, rich sherried notes perked up with a coastal saltiness. Intensely warming, it is one of the Bunnahabhain family favorites.
Colour
Rich mahogany gold
Ageing
18 years, sherry cask maturation
Nose
Fragrant with notes of dried fruit, rich honeyed nuts, toffee and slight hints of spice.
Palate
Notes of mellow sherried nuts, dried fruit and rich oak, with toffee and a slight tang of salt from its maturation of 18yrs at the coast.
Finish
A dry fruit finish with a hint of spice and salt.

Bought a bottle with my friends and we all loved it. Might be my all time favourite. I’ve bought a few bottles ever since and a couple of others by Bunnahabhain which have all been excellent sippers.

This is the fifth or sixth 18 year old I’ve sampled in the last year or so, and it delivers excellent value for the price. Nice dark colour with distinct character in multiple flavour layers. There’s a slight hint of sea salt on the finish. Would definitely recommend.
