Wine

As diverse as wine is, most bottles can be categorised into 9 different styles:

  • Sparkling wine
  • Light Bodied white wine, “the beer of wine” like Sav. Blanc
  • Full Bodied white wine, often oak-aged, typically Chardonnay
  • Aromatic (sweet) white wine, some of the oldest wine varieties with explosive, almost perfumed aromas, and can either be dry or sweet. Riesling is a wonderful option.
  • Rose wine, made by “dying” a wine for only a short time with the skins of red wine grapes.
  • Light Bodied Red Wine, light tannin and pale in colour, a Pinot Noir is the most recognised of this category.
  • Medium Bodied, which are the perfect mid-week wines for Red wine lovers to accompany a meal. A merlot or cabernet Franc being good choices.
  • Full Bodied Red Wine, deepest, darkest and most tannic of all the reds. Pinotage is always the top pick with a juicy steak.
  • Dessert Wine, ranging from dry to sweet. Port being the most common as an after dinner drink.
